Fully suited up and currently filming for the pilot of the brand new television series, Glee star Melissa Benoist is now Kara Zor-El – better known as Superman’s cousin and the DC Comics heroine known as Supergirl! The upcoming new TV Series follows the same trend as DC Universe inspired shows Arrow and The Flash, and will be produced/ written by executive producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg, and Sarah Schechter. Glen Winter will also be directing the pilot, and three time Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood designed the costume that Benoist wears with pride.

In an interesting note, Supergirl’s costume is strikingly on point with Henry Cavill’s Superman outfit, which he wears in the DC Cinematic Universe. They have similar dark hue and texture, but it’s a far shot that both TV and Film universes will intersect and be part of the same continuity. One can only wonder if a version of the Man of Steel will be appearing in the new TV Series, but it certainly won’t be former Superman actor Brandon Routh, who is currently Ray Palmer/ The Atom in the Arrowverse.

Supergirl will premiere on the CBS sometime during the 2015-2016 television season.
