After months of waiting and anticipation as to who will be cast in one of the most iconic superhero roles of all time, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have finally come to a decision on who will be the new face to play The Amazing Spider-Man on the big screen… And that honor falls to young British actor Tom Holland, the star of Billy Elliot The Musical and the film The Impossible!

Beating out the likes of Dylan O’Brien and Asa Butterfield for the much coveted role of the webslinger, Holland is the third actor to play Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, taking over for predecessors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who each played Spider-Man in two different film productions and its sequels, helmed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb respectively and under the guidance of Sony Pictures. After Sony struck a deal with Marvel Studios to allow the webslinger to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the ball was in motion to cast a new face behind the mask, with stipulations being that this Spider-Man “is in High School and is most definitely Peter Parker”.
