The critics may have spoken and the mixed reactions generated by buzz are evident, but the numbers don’t lie and Warner Bros. and DC Entertaiment’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has earned BIG during its opening weekend this past Easter season worldwide!
According to Forbes, the film has grossed $170 Million in the US, while the international box office generated $254 Million, bringing the total earnings to about $424 Million – the BIGGEST OPENING FOR A SUPERHERO MOVIE ever and also nabbing the Biggest March opener spot from “The Hunger Games”.
Outside of the specified genre market, Batman v Superman ranks as the fifth highest big opening movie on the overseas opening weekend market, just behind the likes of Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides. It has however climbed the mountain to earn the spot as the FOURTH biggest opening weekend of any kind of film – behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Given the long list of accomplishments, it speaks volumes for the performance of the film and that no matter what the critics say, this film is simply a must watch for fans and those who love these iconic characters.
