In case you didn’t know, Edgar Wright, prolific director of Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World and was attached to Marvel’s Ant-Man before creative differences ensued between him and the studio had him dropping out of the project, just released a 6-minute preview of his upcoming heist film, Baby Driver.
The clip is insane! Super stylized with the signature Edgar Wright touch, Baby Driver seems like Wright’s most polished film to date. The artistic genius of his craft takes front and center when he marries the story, action, and music to an insanely synchronized symphony. It’s crazy efficient, and bloody effing brilliant.
You don’t even need to know anything about the film, just check this 6-minute high-octane clip out.
Right? RIGHT?!!! Did you catch the times when the beat of the song coincided with specific action sequences in the film? That’s pretty much the genius of Wright, right there. The car chase is immaculately choreographed (and filmed) as well! It’s been a while since a chase scene brought me at the edge of my seat (eat your heart out Fast and the Furious)!
Aside from a really stylized look, Baby Driver also employs some of the best actors in Hollywood to date including (but not limited to) Ansel Elgort, Jon Berthnal, John Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey.
