So What Actually Happened at Marvel’s Hall M? | APCC Manila 2017

It was marvelous. But It's not what you think it is.

One of the highlights during the last day of APCC Manila 2017 was the exclusive viewing at Marvel’s Hall M at the SMX Convention Center. As awesome as it was last year, the reveals that were presented to the drooling Marvel zombies actually took everyone by surprise.

Although marvelous as it is, it might not be what you think.

Marvel Executive C.B. Cebulski spearheaded the event once again with his energetic presence, hyping up the crowd with video after video, each escalating in sheer awesomeness. Here’s a taste what what went down during the event:

The string of videos started with a short animated video featuring Rocket and Groot:

This one was actually my favorite from all the animated shorts featured. Check out this old-school style animation titled “Science Fair” for Ant-Man!

Followed up by a new bit in the latest Marvel Spider-Man animated series featuring the alien symbiote. The clip above was shown during SDCC but even without the video, I’m pretty sure you have a general idea on who’s the next villain to expect.

The next wave of exclusives featured the upcoming video games that will be release this year and the next.

Starting with Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy:

Followed by Marvel Lego Heroes 2!

I loved the part when Rocket said what’s the worse that could happen if you mess with the space-time continuum? Then a celestial being appeared in from of him to which he said “A PLANET WITH A FACE!”

Watch all the hilarity in the video below:

They also followed with the much anticipated fighting game Marvel vs Capcom: Infinity:

Want a little more immersion to your gaming? They also showcased Marvel powers united for the Oculus Rift! In this game you can choose one of four Marvel Characters, each with varying powers:

But what I’m more interested about is the upcoming Spider-Man videogame by Insomniac Games! Here’s the full gameplay trailer shown during the event, which was a video actually featured a couple of months back:

Whew! Did you see all that?

Next up, C.B. gave us a glimpse on some new TV shows. There was a short video clip from the upcoming Marvel’s Inhumans in which highlight scenes from Medusa (Serinda Swan), Maximus (Iwan Rheon) and Karnak (Ken Leung) were shown. I have only 2 words to say – All. That. Hair.

If you ask me, Netflix really stole the show during the event, and they did it in flying colors! Hall M was no exception as they actually featured 4 minutes of its upcoming Punisher Series. It was dark and bloody as you would expect, and it looks to be in a good position to be up there with the greats like Daredevl.

The last part of the presentation was all about the movies in the MCU.  Everyone expected Thor: Ragnarok of course! The third movie in the franchise, based on the exclusive footages, looks to be on the light an funnier side of things this time around, which is a nice change of pace for Thor to be honest.

And of course the new Black Panther trailer was shown as well:

Though it was said that Captain Marvel has not yet started filming, they did flash some awesome concept art on what could be the final look of Brie Larson’s character. I can’t show the images right now but if look hard enough on the interwebs, you might find it. Also, expect Skrulls!

The last part of the presentation was a recapping the WHOLE MCU timeline, but its just not some simple video montage of all the movies… No, they did one better! They actually got Ant Man’s Paul Rudd and the master storyteller himself, MICHAEL PENA! The two actually did a good job of describing every Marvel movie starting with Iron Man back in 2008! They got really creative in using some hilarious and exaggerated props that weren’t even in the MCU like when the part that they built up on Nick Fury, you would expect they would show Samuel L. Jackson right?

Well you are wrong 🙂

There were a lot of neat moments during that bit but once they were finished with explaining Spider-Man Homecoming, the camera panned to the other side and the fans suddenly cheered when they saw Michelle Pfeiffer facing the two! All along they were actually keeping Catwoman up to speed on everything related to the Marvel movies!

It was surprising and funny to say the least, but if you watched that old 90’s flick Gansta’s Paradise. I’m pretty sure you’ll get the same vibe I did! Ah not really? Well then I’m old!

The very last thing that flashed was the trailer for Ant Man and the Wasp which got everybody really hyped up. From what I’ve gathered from the bits and pieces of awesomeness, it seems that Micheal Douglas’ Hank Pym character will somehow don the suit once again.

And that was it! After the last trailer, you can bet that everyone was expecting that something might come out of Infinity War right? Well sadly there wasn’t… And I don’t blame you, the hype level was really palpable in the air during that moment. As they say, you can’t win it all right?

But still it was definitely an awesome and memorable experience for every Marvel Fan that day. It was really a good indicator that Marvel is not over yet! There is still greater things to come!
