First Impressions: ASUS ROG Strix GL503 Gaming Laptop

Here are our observations as we initially scope out this beast!

Today, we’re putting the spotlight on the ASUS ROG Strix GL503 as we give our first impressions on this fine gaming beast! Check it!

First, let’s talk exterior. The ROG Strix GL503 looks sleek AF! You want a snazzy-looking gaming laptop that you’ll always be proud to bring out wherever whenever? This one’s for you! This laptop is rocking a brushed gunmetal gray design with an ROG Logo that lights up RED when the machine is on!

On to the sides, we gots some I/O ports. Over on the left, you have the power port, an Ethernet slot, a mini-display port, an HDMI slot, Two (2) USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and an audio jack.

Over on the right side, there’s an SD card slot, a USB 3.1 Gen.1 Type-C slot, another USB 3.0 slot, a USB 2.0 slot, and a slot of a Kensington lock.

It’s when you open the lid though and press the power button that happiness just overtakes you! The RGB keyboard lights up and makes the whole machine a feast for the eyes. The keyboard is practically complete as it features a numpad as well. You have the usual trackpad, of course.

And then you have the 15.6-inch FHD screen which is a good size for you to enjoy your games. Gotta say, it looks amazing with wallpaper engine 😛 (Moving wallpapers with a huge community behind it. Check it out on STEAM)

Let’s look under the hood a bit for to see what this baby has cooking.

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz
  • Installed Memory: 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
  • Storage: 1TB SATA HDD and 128GB SATA3 SSD
  • Power: 150W power adaptor

Yup, it has all that. You know the best part? It’s an AFFORDABLE gaming laptop! This particular model (GL503VD) has a price tag of PHP 69,995! Pair that up with some kind of payment plan and this is something that won’t bite down on your budget too badly.

So that’s all we have for our first impressions of this beast. We’ll run some games on it and let you know what our general experience is on our upcoming review so DO stay tuned for that!
