You are Gold! The New Acer Helios 300 Gets a New Lux Treatment

Acer is shaking things up with their fresh new take on a trusty gaming line.

ONE Store Beta Now Available

Revealed 2 nights ago at the #NextOnAcer Press Junket in New York, Acer, another known brand in the gaming hardware market revealed a gaming laptop that looks ridiculously fresh. Behold, the Helios 300 in White and Gold.

A new colorway that just oozes with luxury and stark difference from the rest of the gaming notebooks and gears out there.

For some reason gaming hardware has been associated with black and red and while that’s not going to go out of fashion any time soon, Acer CEO Jason Chen mused the absence of options in the market hence the move of Acer to go against the grain and create one of the best-looking gaming laptops I have ever seen.

The traditionally obsidian chassis is replaced with a sleek metallic white finish with key muted Gold hardware peeking out, the Helios 300 Special Edition is crazy beautiful to look at. But what’s a luxurious-looking gaming laptop if its internals are sub-par, right? The upgraded look comes with upgraded specs giving Acer Predator fanboys something to look-forward to more than the skin of their machine.

HELIOS 300 ‘Golden’ Specs

The Helios 300 (PH315-51) keeps your games looking ultra-smooth with a 15.6” Full IPS display plus an updated 144 Hz refresh rate. To any gamer, you know that higher refresh rates means lower input lags giving you buttery smooth images as go through the sandy plains of Miramar.

Going deeper, the gaming laptop is powered by the latest 8th-Gen Intel i7 Core Processor, 16G of DDR4 memory (upgradable to 32G), a clockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, and up to a 512 GB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe solid state drive, and up to a 2 TB hard disk drive. The Helios 300 also runs on Intel’s latest Optane Memory which should give the laptop it’s boost in applications processing and just improves everything running.

Cooling-wise, Acer claims that their new all-metal AeroBlade 3D Fans allows for superior cooling because of the fan’s superb aerodynamics and improved airflow system. There’s also the Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit WiFi to provide faster throughput so you can game, stream and do whatever it is that you need to do on the net faster.

Acer somehow fell in love with the white and gold aesthetic that this motif spread across multiple accessories for one clean collection.

Look at them beauties! From the White and Gold Cestus 510 (another innovative take on Acer’s already brilliant and easily customizable mice) to the White and Gold Predator Galea and even an accompanying mousepad. But wait, did you see that super hip roll-top backpack right there? Seriously I could imagine the dude bringing all this stuff wearing white Bermuda shorts, a light pastel polo and maybe a sunhat. If gaming hardwares had fashion season, the Helios 300 Special Edition White and Gold is sits right smack in their Spring-Summer 2018 collection! Bravisima!

To those who may want the Obsidian (black) version of the Helios, fret not as there will always be that option for you guys. Now, there’s no word yet on local pricing, availability and if this Special Edition will even hit our markets. We’ll keep bugging our friends from Acer for more info about this but for the meantime, keep it here at Ungeek for more updates.
