Violet Evergarden is getting an anime film in 2020

It's a bit far off, but it'll surely be worth it!

Violet Evergarden was one of the hottest anime series of the Winter 2018 anime season, and for good reason. The show has an interesting cast of characters, a tear-jerking story, and drop-dead gorgeous art and animation. It is a Kyoto Animation studio show after all.

While there’s no word yet on when, or if there will be a season 2 of the series, what’s confirmed is that KyoAni is working on a Violet Evergarden anime film!

The upcoming Violet Evergarden movie was confirmed only recently, though its release is still far off. The movie is set to release in Japan in January of 2020. Sure, it’s still more than a year away, but I’m hoping the Violet Evergarden movie is just as pretty (and as tear-jerking) as the series.

If you haven’t watched the anime yet, the story follows Violet Evergarden, a former soldier who begins work as an “Auto Memory Doll” at the end of the war. Auto Memory Dolls are tasked with transcribing the thoughts and feelings of clients into words. Sure it may sound like a bit of a bore, but trust me, it’s well worth a view if you’re into drama/period pieces.
