Animal Crossing: New Horizons becomes one of the best-selling Switch games at launch

Released just a few days ago, Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch received rave reviews from critics, and it’s also shaping up to be one of the biggest game launches for the Switch ever.
According to a report by gamesindustry.biz, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a massive hit in the UK, with the game’s first week sales being more than the launch sales of all other Animal Crossing games to-date. New Horizons’ sales record isn’t just limited to the series though as the game has become one of the fastest-selling Switch games of all time in the country, only being beaten out by the combined sales of Pokemon Sword and Shield.
What makes New Horizons’ UK sales more impressive is the fact that the aforementioned sales record only counts physical sales. Considering that more gamers are downloading the game digitally now due to quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak, it is likely that Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ total sales number is much higher.
Aside from the UK though, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is also shaping up to be a big hit globally. While we don’t have concrete numbers yet regarding the game’s worldwide sales record, a report by wccftech states that the game is expected to be among the top 3 biggest Switch game launches yet.
