Huawei officially reveals the new P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+ flagships

Those are some incredible cameras!

Last year’s P30 series from Huawei are no doubt some of the best flagship phones for photography that you can get in 2019. Now, one year later, Huawei has officially unveiled its new flagship line — the P40 series.

Unlike previous P-series devices (where there was only a base and a Pro model), the P40 line features three models: the base P40, the P40 Pro, and the P40 Pro+.

P40 Pro+

The P40 Pro+ is no doubt the highlight of the new P40 series, thanks in part to its gorgeous nano-tech ceramic back. Thanks to its use of ceramic, the P40 Pro+ is incredibly scratch-resistant, and quite a stunning flagship phone to boot.

The beautiful design of the P40 Pro+ is its new 6.7-inch display that features a beautiful Quad-curve Overflow design that makes it an almost all-screen phone.

Aside from being a looker, the P40 Pro+ is a powerful device, as it packs a top-of-the-line Kirin 990 processor. Thanks to the Kirin 990, the P40 Pro+ is also a 5G-capable smartphone. Complementing the processor is 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.

The main highlight of the P40 Pro+ though is its penta camer setup — yes, it has five cameras! The shooter setup includes a 50MP main, a 40MP ultra-wide, an 8MP 10x optical telephoto, a 3x optical telephoto, and a 3D ToF sensor. While the main and ultra-wide cameras are already impressive, the fact that the Pro+ has two telephoto shooters makes it an incredibly versatile camera phone. The P40 Pro+ also uses a much larger sensor compared to other flagships, meaning it will deliver great low-light images.

As for its front camera, the P40 Pro+ packs a 32MP + 3D ToF dual selfie shooter.

Huawei P40 Pro+ specs:

  • 6.7-inch OLED Display, 1440 x 3160 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate

P40 Pro

The P40 Pro is similar in a lot of ways to the Pro+ model. Both phones feature the unique curved display, a Kirin 990 processor, and the same dual selfie shooter. What makes the P40 Pro different is that it does not come with a ceramic back, though it comes with five attractive colors to choose from. The P40 Pro also has a smaller display at 6.58-inches.

As for the rear camera setup, the P40 Pro is fairly similar to the + model, but the Pro only has four cameras in total. The camera setup includes a 50MP main, a 40MP ultra-wide, a 12MP 5x optical telephoto, and a 3D ToF sensor. While it may not have the same zoom capabilities as the Pro+, the P40 Pro should still be an excellent shooter in its own right.

Finally, we have the base P40. This phone packs a slightly smaller 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED Display, though it does not have the quad-curve overflow design. What it does share with the Pro models is the Kirin 990 processor, as well as 5G connectivity.

On the camera department, the P40 has a 50 MP wide, an 8 MP 3x optical telephoto, and 16 MP ultrawide triple rear camera setup. Its front camera meanwhile is a 32MP selfie shooter.
