With Social Distancing in mind, a couple held their wedding in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone around the world is encouraged to stay at home if they can as well as practice social distancing. This means large events are a no-go, and it’s affecting tons of conventions and other events worldwide. Social distancing measures are also affecting more personal events such as wedding.
Such was the case with the redditor ashmush. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, her wedding was cancelled. Though thanks to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the couple’s wedding still pushed through, albeit digitally.
According to her post on r/animalcrossing, she is a graduating medical school student who was set to have her wedding sometime this month. Sadly though, the wedding was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. To cheer her up, her fiance and their friends planned a surprise wedding ceremony in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The gesture is an incredibly sweet and touching one. In her words, she said that the Animal Crossing wedding “made me so happy, I don’t even have the words to describe how much it meant to me.”
Aside from being a great wedding venue, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is also a great game in its own right. In fact, we think that New Horizons might just be the game that we all need right now:
