A new Ace Combat game is in development

Bandai Namco has announced that a new Ace Combat game is in the works, and it is a joint production by Project Aces and ILCA.

It has now been over two years since the release of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and now, Bandai Namco has announced that a new Ace Combat game is in development. This Ace Combat game is a joint production between Project Aces of Bandai Namco and ILCA – the developer of the upcoming Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. ILCA has also helped on other games such as Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, and even Ace Combat 7.

The announcement of the upcoming Ace Combat game was announced at the series’ 25th anniversary program. While there wasn’t a lot of info given regarding the upcoming game, series producer Kazutoki Kono said that this game will usher in “a new era” for the long-running series, and that development on the game is now underway.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Ace Combat is an arcade-style flight combat simulation series. Set in the fictional world of “Strangereal,” Ace Combat lets players take control of a flying ace, piloting various real-world jet fighters, including the likes of the F-22 Raptor, the Sukhoi SU-57, and more. The games in the series have also introduced fictional fighter aircraft.

Ace Combat 7, the latest game in the series, was released last January 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game has now sold over 3 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling game in the series to date.
