New form factor, excellent premium materials and same ardent meticulousness to the manufacturing process, the new premium Huawei Smartwatches are here. Welcome the all new Huawei Watch GT 3 — comes part of a series along with the Huawei Watch GT 3 42mm variant and Huawei Watch GT 3 Runner, a more professional runner-facing device that offers just a bit more oomph than the already packed Huawei Watch GT 3 46mm variant.

We got our hands on the new premium smartwatch and here’s a quick unboxing and initial impression for you all.

First of, the Huawei Watch GT 3 comes in the same square high-top cardboard box from previous generation with the model and color printed and laminated for you to see.

We got our hands on the Huawei Watch GT 3 46mm variant in Active colorway — this uses a deep charcoal black fluoroelastometer band that’s lightweight, smooth to the touch and water/ sweat resistant.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 46mm comes in 2 other strap options and watch lug color like chrome on a nice tan European high-quality top layer calfskin leather band. Or if you prefer something more metallic, there’s also an metal chain band with what seems like a deployant clasp.

According to Huawei, the Watch GT 3’s design was inspired by nature. For the 46mm, it’s inspired by the juxtoposition of sharp contours amidst smooth plains of glaciers. And while I find that hard to imagine upon opening the box of the Huawei Watch GT 3, I will admit the design is a thing of beauty.

As with older Watch GT, the Watch GT 3 utilizes premium materials like a ceramic-coating for the base and 1.43 inches AMOLED HD screen. The new inclusion here is the actual rotating crown that also has a tactile feedback giving a new level of immersion. This one is one of my favorite highlights and it’s such a joy to actually use the crown now unlike. I just wish the tactile functionality was mechanic and not tactile feedback from the smartwatch.

What I absolutely love about the Huawei Watch GT line is that when they first created it, the design aimed to cater to both Huawei users and watch aficionados. Remember the sapphire glass and ceramic back addition to the Huawei Watch GT 2?

According to a press event attended by UnGeek, Huawei mentioned that the number 1 feature that users look forward to with their Watch GT line has less to do with time keeping and more to do with Health tracking — hence the company’s focus on improving their tracker via the new HUAWEI TruSeen™ 5.0+ technology. Enabling the Huawei Watch GT 3 to count as low as 5bpm as a deviation threshold to provide users with more accurate heartrate measure.

The heartrate measure accurately tracks you when you workout as well — or even after you workout (during recovery). This accurate measurement ensures that your vitals are spot-on in tip-top shape as you try and be the healthier version of yourself.

More workout modes can be seen and there’s even a training plan that you can whip up with the Huawei Watch GT 3 and the Huawei Health App. Irregular workout can be expertly tracked (like HIIT) and being able to quantify your progress and see the charts can help immensely.

As a smart watch, you can easily change the watch face through the Huawei Health App and you can even play your favorite workout music through your Huawei Watch GT 3 directly. (Yes, it has its own speaker).

As always the Huawei Watch GT 3 (46mm) has a large enough battery that you can use your smartwatch for as much as 14 days before charging again (7 days for the 42mm variant)

All in all, we’re excited to put this through the motions and get back on track with our health (because Lord knows we need it, ulgh).

The Huawei Watch GT 3 is now available for pre-orders starting at Php 8,999 for the 42mm model (regular SRP of Php 11,999) and Php 12,999 for the 46mm model. Pre-order starts now until December 9, 2021.
