realme is set to debut their ‘most premium’ flagship phone the realme GT 2 Series at Barcelona this coming Feb 28, 2022 for the Mobile World Congress. For the uninitiated, the Mobile World Congress (or MWC) is akin to E3 for gamers. This is the major conference where top mobile phone brands, suppliers and manufacturers showcase what they’ll launch and set the tech trend for the year.

While not necessarily a world’s first as the GT 2 was officially unveiled in China last month, the decision to put GT 2 as the brand’s centerpiece on a more global platform like MWC signifies the brand’s aggressive thrust into the higher-end sector. As part of the first wave of devices to adopt the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors, the realme GT 2 Pro specifically aims to disrupt the market by offering a couple of “World’s First”.

First-off the back cover design of the realme GT 2 Pro is the first smartphone to make use of a paper-inspired bio-polymer material. The smartphone is also co-designed by famed Japanese industrial designer, Naoto Fukusawa (MUJI, Herman Miller, Alessi). Second, the realme GT 2 Pro comes with a 150° ultra-wide camera with fish-eye mode. And last, realme is pushing for its Innovation Forward Communication for better and more stable connection.

We’ll most likely know more about this come MWC 2022.

“It always feels great to deliver something new and exciting to users worldwide, and the GT 2 Pro has brought the whole thing to the next level.” Said Sky Li, realme CEO.

With the imminent arrival of the realme GT 2 Series worldwide, the brand is poised to be among the top smartphone companies to look out for this coming year.  Recently, realme was hailed the number 1 smartphone vendor in the Philippines for 2021 by global research firm Canalys based on its local sell-in data for Q1-Q4. On the global level, as of Q3 2021, realme also became the youngest smartphone brand in the world to reach 100 million cumulative shipments and join the Top 5 smartphone brands worldwide based on Canalys Q4 global sell-in data.
