The DioField Chronicle announced at Sony’s State of Play

Sony's State of Play brought a plethora of updates and brand new releases, one of which was The DioField Chronicle from Square Enix.

Sony’s much-awaited State of Play brought a plethora of updates and brand spankin’ new releases, one of which was The DioField Chronicle: Square Enix’s new Tactical RPG. This will hopefully quell the flames of those craving for a Final Fantasy Tactics sequel–at least for a moment.

Check out the trailer here:

The hybrid of turn-based and real-time tactical combat mechanics featured here show a clear perspective of what DioField Chronicle strives to be–not just a FF spinoff, but it’s own RPG. Platinum Games co-developed the game, and while they won’t be spearheading any Square Enix titles or franchises just yet, this could be a nice start.

Not much has been revealed sans trailer, but from what we gather, the plot involves the forces of the Kingdom of Alletain, a nation that gets dragged into a conflict Between the Rowetale Alliance and the not-so-subtly villainous Trovelt-Schoevian Empire. With smooth-looking graphics, an intriguing battle system, a banging soundtrack, and a very familiar voice cast, this looks like a game worth the hype.

The DioField Chronicle is set for release sometime this 2022 .While it was revealed on a State of Play Stream, the game isn’t a PlayStation exclusive as it will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
