Sonic Origins releases on Consoles and PC this June

Sonic Origins is a remaster of four classic Sonic games, and it releases on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch this June.

SEGA has announced Sonic Origins, a remaster of four classic Sonic games, and it releases on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch this June.

Specifically, this package includes the following games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. This remaster package comes with various enhancements such as updated framerates.

Sonic Origins also comes with other additions, including several game modes. One of them is Anniversary Mode which lets you play the game on a 16:9 screen with no time over, continue, or game over screens. There’s also the Classic Mode which lets you experience the games in their original form. Then there’s Boss Rush where run through at Sonic speed on a large 16:9 screen without having to see the time over, continue, or game over screens. Finally, there’s a Mirror Mode which flips the levels around.

On top of these modes, Sonic Origins features the classic Story Modes for each game, as well as Mission Mode where you can challenge yourself to earn coins. You can also unlock never-before-seen content when playing, which you can view in the Museum in-game.

Alongside the game’s announcement, SEGA also revealed the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as three DLC packs that players can get.

Sonic Origins will release on June 23, 2022 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store).
