Here’s what’s new in Valorant Episode 5 Act 1

Valorant Episode 5 Act 1 is here, and it brings lots of new content, including a new map, more battlepass goodies, and more.

The highlight of this new season is the new Atlantis-themed Pearl map. Riot describes the new map as:

“Pearl is the wonder in the deep blue. The newest VALORANT destination mixes technological marvels with tactical three-lane gameplay. You’re going to have to survive without the rotation and mobility support of doors, ascenders, or teleporters—so quit staring at the fish!”

Along with the map, Episode 5 Act 1 also introduces the Ascendant rank, a new rank that slots in between Diamond and Immortal. This new rank was added to spread rank density, and hopefully improve competitive games.

Of course, the new season also brings a new Battlepass. For Episode 5 Act 1, the battlepass features lots of goodies, including the Task Force 809 Phantom, Spitfire Operator, and the Cat Tactics Gun Buddy.

The season also brings Prelude to Chaos skinline for the Vandal, Operator, Shorty, and Spectre.

Finally, the new season features the Crossover Pass Event which runs from June 22 to July 12, 2022. This Pass Event features comic book-inspired Player Cards with seven levels to complete.
