Hatsune Miku Expo 2023 VR Kickstarter opens for a free virtual reality concert

HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 2023 VR Kickstarter has just been opened by Crypton Future Media for a free concert this October, with perks for backers.

A Kickstarter campaign for the Virtual Diva Hatsune Miku opened for a free VR concert that is planned to be held this October 2023. The Kickstarter campaign for HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 2023 VR was posted by Miku’s parent company Crypton Future Media with a goal of USD 302,424.

At the time of writing, there are already 700 backers, amounting to USD 175,297.

If the goal is reached, the HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 2023 VR will also be posted online for free, so there won’t be any issues for her fans with no VR device to watch the concert.

Backers, depending on the tier of their pledge, will receive rewards such as an exclusive T-shirt, with higher tiers granting the backer more perks like a stage object participation and song request.

These song requests can be performed solo by Miku herself or one of her Vocaloid friends, including Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO. Other perks also includes access to a color customizable MyMiku 3D model that will be shown in the concert, and Miku will also mention your name during the credits.

Crypton also opened participation for those who are interested in contributing through different means. By accepting applications for artists in both costume and music design with a common theme of “Toy Box.” Artists who are interested in participating can send their applications through the links below.

There would be one Grand Prize winner and two runners-up in the Music contest, with an assortment of additional prizes for all the winners and depending on if the stretch goal has been reached.

Meanwhile, there would be only one winner in the costume design portion whose winning design will be worn by Miku during the concert, that is if both the goal and stretch goal are reached. Submissions for both categories will be accepted till March 5, 2023, 11:00 AM (JST).

According to Crypton, the reason why they held this year’s Miku Expo is due to lingering threat of COVID-19, making international travel and hosting concerts difficult. Thus, they opted to held it as a online concert. But they promised that it will be a brand new experience for the fans of the Virtual Diva.

The Kickstarter will end on April 5, 2023.
