It’s been a while since we got a new CG movie for good ol’ Resident Evil. I’m pretty sure everyone’s wondering how fan favorites Leon Scott Kennedy and Chris “Boulderpunching” Redfield are doing outside of the mainstream game’s timeline.

Earlier today, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s official Youtube channel dropped a brand new teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Death Island, the fourth installment in the storied franchise’s animated movie series.

Check out the trailer here:

The story picks up after 2017’s Resident Evil: Vendetta, which saw Chris and Leon team up with former STARS Bravo team member Rebecca Chambers in combating a city-wide infection. While we don’t know if Rebecca will be coming back, we do get a hint of a possibility.

Leon and Chris will be the headlining once more as a mysterious viral outbreak finds its way into Alcatraz this time around. From swimming Lickers to what looks like a giant mutated shark, we can expect a ton of action in this movie.

Towards the end of the trailer, we get a glimpse of a certain Jill Valentine, sporting her Resident Evil 3 Remake look. It’s clearly a flashback, as she’s donning the same attire from the Raccoon City outbreak, so it’s still up in the air whether she’ll make a more modern appearance, or stay in the hearts and minds of Chris, and basically everyone who’s wanted to see her in a full-length film.

Jill?! – Chris Redfield, everyone

It would be nice is she did appear, as it would also make the very first time in RE history where she’d share the screen with Leon. We can only hope that they make this happen. Fan service is nice, people. Give us what we want.

Resident Evil: Death Island is set for release this summer of 2023.
