After its reveal a few months ago, DC has finally given us our first look at its next superhero film with the new trailer for Blue Beetle.

This new trailer gives us our first proper look at DC’s newest superhero, and it puts the spotlight on the other members of the cast.

Check out the official trailer for Blue Beetle here:

While this new hero may seem reminiscent of someone like Iron Man design-wise, Blue Beetle is actually much older as he is a superhero created back in 1940, though at the time, it was still under Fox Comics. Soon though, DC acquired Blue Beetle, and has since become known among dedicated fans of DC Comics.

For those unfamiliar with the hero, the movie’s premise is described as:

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.

Meanwhile, the movie’s cast includes:

  • Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle
  • Bruna Marquezine as Penny
  • Belissa Escobedo as Milagros Reyes
  • George Lopez as Rudy
  • Adriana Barraza as Nana
  • Elpidia Carrillo as Rocio
  • Damián Alcázar as Alberto
  • Raoul Trujillo as Carapax the Indestructible Man
  • Susan Sarandon as Victoria Kord

Blue Beetle will be released in Philippine cinemas on August 16, 2023.
