Following its reveal back in February, ATLUS revealed new details about Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection ahead of its June launch.
In case you missed it, this collection includes HD remasters of Etrian Odyssey, Etrian Odyssey II, and Etrian Odyssey III.
As with other JRPG HD re-releases, these remaster feature a multitude quality-of-life enhancements, including various difficulty options, auto-mapping, and more. Of course, it also features high-definition graphics that should make it appeal to newer players, all while being a nice treat for fans of the originals.
If you are one of those who are new to the franchise, Etrian Odyssey is a 3D dungeon-crawling RPG series. Players select five adventures from a range of classes, and the goal is to look for treasure in a vast labyrinth inhabited by fierce monsters.
To do this, players must create a unique and personalized map, taking notes of various shortcuts and treasure chests that they come across.
These first three Etrian Odyssey games were released on the Nintendo DS between 2007 to 2010. Since the, they have not been released on other platforms, meaning a new generation of players can now experience these titles on the Switch and PC.
As a bonus, ATLUS announced the Etrian Odyssey HD Atlus Collaboration Character Portraits which will be given to players who pre-order the game.
Specifically, Etrian Odyssey HD will feature Ringo (Soul Hackers 2) and Joker (Persona 5). Meanwhile, the second game will have Demi-Fiend (Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne) and Teddie (Persona 4). Finally, the third game will feature Nahobino (Shin Megami Tensei V) and Aigis (Persona 3) as part of the DLC.
Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will be released on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on June 1, 2023.
