After the show made waves with its premiere, Oshi no Ko continues to trend as its opening song “Idol” by YOASOBI is taking over the charts.

Specifically, the song has taken the top spot in the Spotify Top 50 chart in Japan as it has gotten over 600,000 plays in the country alone. Worldwide, the song has reached 19 million plays.

Meanwhile, over on YouTube, the song also topped YouTube Japan’s music video charts. Though outside Japan, the music video continues to get views as it was in YouTube’s Top 100 Global Music Videos list.

In fact, the music video now has over 40 million views — an impressive feat given that it has only been almost two weeks since it was released. And in case you haven’t yet, you can check it out here:

The music video trending makes sense given how impressive it is visually, not to mention that its animation is entirely different from the anime’s actual opening.

It also helps that the Oshi no Ko opening song is a serious banger, not to mention that it both captures the idol vibe of the show perfectly, all while incorporating its darker elements.

Oshi no Ko is now streaming on Netflix in the Philippines and in other select countries. Meanwhile, the manga that it’s based on is also ongoing, and you can read it for free at:
