ONE Store Beta Now Available

After a recent teaser, NetherRealm Studios has finally unveiled Mortal Kombat 1, the next installment in the long-running franchise.

While this is technically the 12th installment in the long-running series, the game is called “1” which indicates that this game is a reboot. Though it is also a sequel to Mortal Kombat 11 as it is set in a new timeline following MK11’s events.

This latest Mortal Kombat game will feature a story mode, new characters, and more. You can get a taste of what to expect in the announcement trailer which you can see here:

Aside from a new setting and more characters, MK1 will also feature a new feature called Kameo Fighters. With this, players can get assistance during fights, and the characters that help are different from the main roster.

Fighting game afficionados will also be happy to know that the game will have rollback netcode in its online play. Plus, the game will have offline play (which is always a plus, even with these types of games).

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch. This is interesting to note given that the game will be released on the Switch, but not on PS4 and Xbox One.

The game will also be available to play on September 14 for players with early access which will be available with some of the game’s more premium versions.
