Following Season 1’s release in March, Ubisoft unveiled Operation Dread Factor which is Season 2 of Year 8 in Rainbow Six Siege, and it will launch on all platforms on May 30.

As with all seasons, the main highlight of this new operation is the introduction of a new operator. Specifically, Dread Factor features Swedish Operator Fenrir, a new Defender. Also part of the season is a rework of the Consulate map, a new Aiming Lane for the Shooting Range, a new permanent arcade playlist, and more.

Fenrir is a new tactical Defender with the unique F-NATT Dread Mine gadget. This new gadget releases a Fear Effect gas which limits the field of view of opposing players that are affected by it. With this, Fenrir can disrupt an attack  and allow players to watch entry points and cover their flank temporarily.

He is a two speed, two health Operator that uses an MP7 or an SASG-12 as a primary weapon, with a BAILIFF 410 as a secondary weapon.

Along with his reveal, Ubisoft also shared a special animation as well as a rundown of his abilities here:

Along with the new Operator, this upcoming season will also feature a reworked Consulate that should make it more balanced and complex to play. Some specific reworks include Attack spawn changes that should reduce player frustration.

There are also improvements to the Shooting Range with the introduction of the Aiming Lane. This should give players a better way of practicing shots as it allows them to try out a customized training session with various target types, movements speeds, and more.

Other updates include a permanent playlist that lets players hop into Arcade modes for quick matches. There are also returning game modes, including Headshots Only, Snipers Only, Golden Gun, and Deathmatch.

Then there’s the Observation Blocker gadget that projects a digital barrier to block the line of sight of opposing drones. Along with this, balance changes for Grim are also coming that aim to improve his Kaiwan Hive Launcher gadget. With the update, Grim’s gadget should be faster, all while making the swarms bigger.

Finally, the new operation adds a new controller layouts with alternate inputs for shooting, crouching.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Dread Factor will be released on May 30 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. For more details, visit the official website.
