Smart and Dark League Studios recently signed a multi-year partnership to help develop the Philippine esports scene.

This partnership was made official in an event back in April that featured executives from both companies. There, more details about the planned esports initiatives are also planned.

Specifically, Dark League Studios with the support of its new telecom partner aims to develop world-class Filipino esports athletes through grassroots tournaments, including the Kings League, Queens League, and Mayors Cup. There are also planned roadshows, mini conferences, community programs and content production, and more for various esports events.

This is far from the first esports initiative from Smart as the telecom giant has been an active player in the esports scene for years now. For instance, Smart has teamed up with various tournaments as well as teams such as Omega Esports in the Mobile Legends PH pro scene.

Meanwhile, Dark League Studios is an organization that’s led by veteran Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) execs with the goal of bridging pro sports and esports in the country. Though instead of focusing on large-scale tournaments, Dark League Studios’ goal is to grow the esports scene through grassroots initiatives.
