Netflix shares new trailer for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead live-action film

While the new anime series is currently ongoing, Netflix shared a new trailer for the Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead live-action movie.

Netflix viewers may already be familiar with the Zom 100 anime which now has its first two episodes available on the platform. This new anime is based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, the creator of the Alice in Borderland manga — yes, that’s the manga that the hit Netflix live-action series is based on.

Given the live-action Alice in Borderland series’ success, Netflix decided to adapt Aso’s post-apocalyptic Zom 100 manga, and this time as a live-action film. While the anime and the new movie are based on the same source material, they are made as completely different projects.

While post-apocalyptic zombie movies and shows are a dime a dozen, Zom 100 promises to be a different take on the genre as it has a more colorful and comedic spin. Specifically, it features a protagonist who is much happier in a zombie-infested world than at his exploitative former workplace.

The film’s premise is described as:

Akira Tendo (Eiji Akaso) works at an exploitative company where he suffers endless hours and harassment from his boss. He spends his days feeling more dead than alive. One day, the town is overtaken by zombies and Akira gets excited for he doesn’t need to go to the office anymore rather than facing the fact he has to survive the zombie apocalypse. Akira comes up with a bucket list of 100 things he decided to accomplish before he becomes a zombie and makes his bucket list check everything off while traveling with Shizuka (Mai Shiraishi) and Kencho (Shuntaro Yanagi).

The live-action Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead will be streamed worldwide on Netflix on August 3, 2023.
