Baldur’s Gate 3 peaked at over 800,000+ concurrent players on Steam

What a climax.

ONE Store Beta Now Available

Baldur’s Gate 3 is breaking records on Steam right now as has achieved an impressive 800,000 concurrent player total on the gaming platform, just a few days after launch.

As of this writing, upon checking SteamDB it looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 shattered some amazing records – sitting pretty at number 3 with a total of 814,666 at peak. The game edged out popular battle royale games like PUBG and Apex Legends.. That’s a whole lotta dice rolling!

The game is currently contesting juggernauts such as Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Not bad for a pure, story-driven CRPG.

There was a funny Tweet by Larian developer Swen Vincke saying “Probably should stay away from the IT team for a while – Told them they should expect like 100k or so at max.” – Legend has it that Swen is still keeping his distance over the IT staff.

Joking aside, its really great to see all the hard work of Larian Studios’ game developers coming to fruition. They deserve all the achievements and accolades that this game will bring them, not to mention all the love coming from the gamers. Their dedication and passion in creating a video game serves as a great example that these kind of titles can still shine a beacon of light in a sea of gacha and DLC-fueled mediums.

Now that the game is out of early access and getting all the needed hype and buzz, I really hope that this is just the start of something greater. Congratulations on Larian Studios for setting such an impressive and inspirational bar.

How about you? Are you one of the players jumping in on the immersive world of Baldur’s Gate on launch?

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC via Steam, with a release for the PlayStation 5 console on September 6.
