Persona 5 Tactica: New enemies and mechanics revealed

Persona 5 Tactica will introduce intriguing new enemies and mechanics.

ONE Store Beta Now Available

After sharing details about the game last month, ATLUS revealed more new enemies and mechanics in Persona 5 Tactica as Tokyo Game Show 2023 is happening.

New and Unique Enemies

Persona 5 Tactica will feature various familiar faces, though it will also feature new enemies such as the Sumo-maton who hurls enemies at you. Players will also have to contend with the Guarded Geisha which is a defensive unit which can nullify all Gun, Melee, and Skill attacks from the front.

Finally, the game will feature the Slimy Shinobi which has a cloning ability.

Various Stage Contraptions

Aside from enemies, Tactica will also feature various contraptions that are strewn all over each stage. For starters, there are Surveillance Cameras that will summon reinforcement if you enter their line of sight. Thus, players must be careful where they move around these.

Next, Exploding Barrels will ignite when dealt with some damage. Finally, Elevators and Jump Pads can let you move around some parts of the stage.

Charge Function and Retrying Stages

One interesting mechanic that’s new to Tactica is Charge. Basically, if a character ends a turn without taking any actions, they’ll activate Charge which gives them a bonus on the next turn. Each character gets unique bonuses when Charge is active.

If you end up failing on a stage though, there’s a Retry function that lets you attempt a stage as many times as you like. This should come in handy for the higher difficulties.

Sub-Personas and Velvet Room Fusion

In Tactica, each Phantom Thief member can equip Sub-Personas which can increase stats and let them use Unique and Inherited Skills. Meanwhile, players can also fuse two Personas to create weapons. This will give players more creative Velvet Room options as Persona-fused weapons will have better stats than weapons from the shop.

Persona 5 Tactica will release on November 17, 2023, for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and PC. The game is also available for pre-order now. Players who pre-order or buy the game early will receive the Orpheus Picaro and Izanagi Picaro Personas.
