The Game Awards 2023 is officially over, and Baldur’s Gate 3 has claimed the prestigious Game of the Year award. This should come as no surprise, after all, Larian Studios’ RPG got rave reviews from critics and fans when it was released a few months ago.

Aside from the most prestigious one of the night, Baldur’s Gate 3 also took home five more honors for a total of six awards, making it the most awarded game of the event.

Its awards include:

  • Game of the Year
  • Best Community Support
  • Best Role Playing Game
  • Best Multiplayer Game
  • Players’ Voice
  • Best Performance (Neil Newborn as Astarion)

Aside from Baldur’s Gate 3, the big winners of the event are Alan Wake 2 and Forza Motorsport. These games got three and two awards, respectively. In particular, Alan Wake 2 won three major awards, including Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.

Here are the folks over at Larian Studios who accepted the award, including director Swen Vincke who arrived in plate armor.

Even before getting GOTY, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already been lauded as one of the best RPGs of all time. This award adds another feather to its cap, and it might just convince those still on the fence to finally give it a try.

Haven’t played the game yet? Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now on PC, macOS, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
