Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth shares wacky new substories

Infinite Wealth promises lots of wacky and fun substories!

ONE Store Beta Now Available

Shortly after sharing info on new karaoke songs, SEGA and RGG Studio highlighted two wacky new Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth substories that feature Ichiban Kasuga involving some birds.

The stories in Like a Dragon games are no doubt the highlights of each title, but for many, the various substories are a big part of the experience. Previous games in the series combine wacky substories with more heartfelt side quests. Infinite Wealth also promises to do the same with its substories.

But to start things off, SEGA and RGG Studio detailed two wacky substories that players can enjoy. Here are their titles along with short descriptions:

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind?

“Kasuga encounters a girl who swears up and down that her beloved pet chicken has been taken away by a UFO. Everyone she’s told, including the police, has brushed it off as her eyes playing tricks on her, but Kasuga sees her desperation and agrees to assist her in a UFO search. As he explores a certain park rumored to be a hotspot for UFO sightings, he witnesses a cow floating up toward a mysterious light…”

Home to Roost

“Kasuga takes a nap on a Hawaiian beach. But when he wakes, his head feels heavy. He hurries over to a shop window to examine himself, only to find that a baby bird has taken up residence atop his head.”

Ichiban Kasuga’s Personality and Bond Level

Yakuza: Like a Dragon introduced Ichiban Kasuga’s Personality, a mechanic where players can enhance Ichiban’s personality stats to improve abilities, unlock new jobs, and even access events.

This Personality mechanic is back in Infinite Wealth, and Ichiban’s traits can be improved through completing substories, playing minigames, and through various actions.

Finally, Infinite Wealth will also feature a Bond Level mechanic for both Ichiban and Kiryu. As their bond with team members improve, players will unlock combo attacks, as well as special stories called Drink Link where a team member will confide in Ichiban or Kiryu.

To enhance these Bond Levels, players can start a Table Talk and chat at restaurants, trigger a Party Chat while walking around the streets, or play mini-games with them.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on January 26, 2024.
