Can the all new HONOR X9b 5G Survive A 100FT Drop Test?

I guess we'll all find out come January 12 when the phone officially launches in the country.

Coming off  from the heel of one of HONOR’s boldest marketing stunt — the deliberate smash and drop tests of the HONOR X9a 5G units last year — the upcoming HONOR X9b 5G pushes the brand to double, nay, triple up the ante with their theatrics as they try to drop the phone 100 feet above the ground. Wow.

Whether this is a global mandate or our local boys from HONOR Philippines pushing the boundaries of what local marketing can do, they certainly are standing behind their products as they tout the HONOR X9b as their #ToughestPhone to date.

In a statement, HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It may come as a shock to our HONOR fans, but we really stayed true to our promise of giving the best to them. Don’t we all love surprises, especially when we least expect it? This upcoming grand launch will be very exciting not just for us but also for the whole Filipinos. We’re introducing what we’re confident to be a smashing hit!”

With the HONOR X9b doubling up the durability claim, it’s becoming clear that the HONOR X9 is being positioned as the phone if you’re the type of person to rough and tough it out during your everyday activities. In fact, the HONOR X9b is now claiming that the phone is tough all around — and not just the reinforced glass on the large 6.78″ AMOLED Curved display.

We recently tried our hand at smashing and dropping the unit itself during the holidays. So far, not a scratch can be seen and everything works well.

Suffice to say we were very impressed with how sturdy the phone is. But aside from that, the HONOR X9b 5G is also pretty impressive when it comes to performance. Here’s a spec comparison between the HONOR X9b 5G and its predecessor.

The slightly larger little brother touts a plush vegan-leather-like vibrant Sunset Orange back cover and gold trimmings along the bezels. It’s powered by a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Chipset and supported by 12GB of RAM (+8 GB of VRAM) as well as 256GB of internal memory.

The larger, more souped-up triple Ai camera Matrix system is headlined by a large 108MP Ultra-Clear Main Camera, 9MP Ultra-Wide Shooter, and a 2MP Macro Camera. Lastly, rounding off the list is a larger 5800mAh battery with 35W SuperCharge charger.

The HONOR X9b 5G will officially be launched here in the Philippines on January 12, 2023. You may watch the live event here as well as HONOR Philippines will be dropping the unit 100 feet above the ground — along with a lot more crazy durability tests.
