The original Fate/stay night visual novel is finally getting an English release

Fate/stay night is finally getting an official English release after two decades!

ONE Store Beta Now Available

It’s finally happening – the original Fate/stay night visual novel is getting a remastered version complete with English subtitles, and it will be released on Steam and Nintendo Switch.

According to the game’s announcement on its new X (formerly Twitter) account, this new remaster will be released this year, and it will come with English and simplified Chinese subtitles. This version will also be based on Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] which was the first re-release of the game for the PS Vita back in 2012.

This remaster is no doubt one that will excite long-time Fate fans. After all, despite the franchise’s popularity around the world, the game that started it all has never been released officially outside Japan.

The Fate series is an incredibly popular Japanese franchise that many anime fans and gamers know about. For anime fans, this franchise is popular thanks in large part to ufotable’s Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works anime which aired back in 2014 to 2015, as well as other anime titles like Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia.

Meanwhile, the series is also known by many gamers, especially those who are fans of gacha games. After all, Fate/Grand Order continues to be a popular game across the world. Plus, the franchise has also seen other game entries like Fate/Extella or the recent Fate/Samurai Remnant.

Even though the franchise is a large and sprawling one, the original Fate/stay night visual novel is still well worth playing now for Fate fans who haven’t played it yet. Aside from being the title that started this massive franchise, the game’s story still packs a punch even two decades on.

Fate/stay night Remastered will be released on PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2024.
