Just a month ahead of its premiere, Netflix shared the first official teaser along with a key visual for Parasyte: The Grey, an upcoming Korean live-action horror-thriller.

Based on this teaser, this upcoming series won’t be for squeamish viewers as it features some grotesque monsters that are the stuff of nightmares. For horror fans though, this should be right up their alley.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at the key visual featuring Su-in (played by Jeon So-nee):

If “Parasyte” seems familiar to you, that’s because this series is an adaptation of the Parasyte manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Yes, that’s the same manga that the Parasyte: The Maxim anime is based on.

In a way, The Grey is a live-action anime adaptation. Instead of being an international co-production like One Piece or a mainly Japanese work like Yu Yu Hakusho, this Parasyte series is a Korean show.

Aside from having a Korean cast and setting, the series also switches up the story. Instead of Shinichi Izumi as the protagonist, this series follows Su-in, a woman grappling with her new reality of coexisting with a parasite. She will then encounter Team Grey, a group committed to fighting against these unidentified parasitic life-forms.

Parasyte: The Grey premieres exclusively on Netflix on April 5, 2024.
