ONE Store Beta Now Available

During the ID@Xbox Digital Session, we got the chance to see developers from India, Australia, and Japan debut their respective games and all of which have their own unique thing to get excited about. But there was one game in particular that had us more interested than most. You could say it’s probably personal bias given that it’s a game that’s being made right here in the country. Here’s everything you need to know about Fallen Tear: The Ascension, an exciting Metroidvania developed in the Philippines.

What we know of the story so far: Fallen Tear: The Ascension is an epic 2D JRPG Metroidvania adventure. You play as Hira, a mysterious young boy on a quest to uncover the truth about his forgotten past. He needs to restore balance to the world. The story will have you crossing paths with monsters, corrupt gods, and levels that get progressively more challenging.

A diverse cast of fully voiced characters will be featured. There will be a bonding system wherein you will need to form meaningful relationships with certain personalities to unlock new skills and abilities. Every decision you make will have a significant impact in both narrative and gameplay. This choice system is tied to player progression and outcomes of the story for both Hira and the companions you meet along the way.

Gameplay: The world of Fallen Tear is expansive, interconnected, and filled with lots of secrets and challenges to discover. Areas will dynamically change based on the player’s actions. You can unlock hidden paths, uncover secrets, and take on different combat and puzzle challenges. All of this is framed under a beautiful hand-drawn animation art style that takes inspiration from the likes of Wakfu and Ori and the Blind Forest.

Developed by Winter Crew and published by Holysoft Studios, Fallen Tear: The Ascension is an exciting title coming from Philippine developers. We eagerly await its release which is targeted to be around late 2025.
