Event Ready Photography with the HONOR 400 Pro 5G

Find yourself at an event? Wanna snap some shots? Lock in with the HONOR 400 Pro 5G.

We’ve taken our sweet time with the new HONOR 400 Pro 5G, and it’s exceeded our expectations, to say the least. It brings just about everything you’ve come to know and love in their famous series, taken the new quirks of the base HONOR 400, and given us a smorgasbord of sweet mobile photography goodness–right at your fingertips.

Having a more than capable main shooter is the name of the game in the upper midrange, and everyone’s come to play–none are pulling any punches. With the HONOR 400 Pro 5G, we’re getting a wombo combo of a camera setup featuring a 200 MP AI Camera with PDAF and OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom and a 12 MP ultrawide camera for the rear peepers, and dual selfie camera setup with 50 MP and 2 MP respectively. It’s a complete loadout for anyone looking for some quick shots in any situation.

Speaking of situations, you’ll definitely find yourself in a few–whether you foresee them or not. It’s always great to come prepared, and have a capable partner in your holster. Whether it be The New Hue Video Music Awards, the recent GMA Gala or an impromptu invitation to LE SSERAFIM at the MoA Arena on a busy Saturday, you’ll have some capable cameras to capture some swell memories.

For situations where you find yourself up close and personal, you need not scroll too far. Making use of the lossless zoom presets from 0.6 to 6X will capture clean, detailed snaps even in low light–something we all need nowadays, given how nothing happens in the morning.

Having that ease of use without worrying about tinkering too much with zoom wheel makes for efficient shooting with less room for mistakes. Clear details, proper bokeh blur, and a whole lot of clarity sans proper lighting are what you get. Just peep these.

Then again, there might be moments when you find yourself watching all the way from a galaxy far far away–a galaxy we call “general admission.” Personal experience-wise, I had no qualms. It was a Perfect Night, nonetheless. However, some certain expectations need to be set. The 50 MP telephoto has some decent range for snaps and the AI works on overtime to smoothen things out. It does have its limits, though.

Lower box is arguably the sweet spot for taking photos with maximum clarity without “straining” the sensors. Going farther than that will leave things a tad less polished. You’ll still be able to capture what’s happening, and you’ll have some satisfactory photos to show for. Just don’t expect them to be as pristine as when you’re at a closer distance.  We’d say photos over videos in this case, if hampered by the same distance limitation. Otherwise, you’re pretty much golden.

So, what can we gather when it comes to the HONOR 400 Pro 5G? It’s an affordable camera-centric smartphone that offers a ton of features aside from its premium hardware that offers a lot of bang for your buck. However, just like any device in its price range, it does hit a certain wall that can only be surpassed by its flagship counterparts. This doesn’t take away from its overall performance and reputation–it’s just a fact. For longer shots, HONOR does have a couple of pricier options, but allow us to propose a workaround before you start splurging. Save up, get that coveted frontrow SVIP ticket to your favorite concert, and realize that you have enough dough to get the HONOR 400 Pro 5G. Problem solved.

All things considered, it’s a highly recommended event-ready shooter that’ll satisfy your snapshot needs.
