Smart is first Asian telco to launch pluggable eSIM adapter for Android users

If you're looking for a pluggable eSIM adapter for your Android device, you'll be glad to know that Smart made it happen!

Smart Communications achieved a regional milestone as the first Asian telco to launch a pluggable eSIM adapter designed for Android users. The innovation addresses a significant gap in mobile connectivity by enabling non-eSIM-capable Android devices to store and manage multiple eSIM profiles without requiring hardware upgrades.

The Smart Multi SIM, priced at ₱119 and available through Smart’s online store, physical retail locations, and accredited retailers nationwide, functions as a physical SIM card that includes a mobile number and welcome bundle. Users receive 5GB of open access data, 100 SMS messages, and 10 minutes of call time valid for three days upon activation.

The technology operates through a companion mobile application available on the Google Play Store, featuring an intuitive interface for profile management. Users can download and install up to five eSIM profiles simultaneously, then conveniently switch between these profiles for personal, business, or travel purposes. The app’s homepage streamlines the process of managing existing profiles, adding new ones, and purchasing additional eSIMs directly from Smart’s online platform.

This innovation particularly benefits users seeking flexibility in mobile connectivity without the expense of purchasing new eSIM-compatible devices. The adapter enables access to Smart’s expanding ecosystem of digital services, including the Trave app for affordable data roaming solutions and KiQ, Smart’s eSIM-based service offering personalized mobile experiences with customizable data allocations, call and text inclusions, and validity periods.
