HONOR just unveiled their new 500 Series smartphones in China, featuring the HONOR 500 and HONOR 500 Pro models. that aim to bring flagship-level capabilities to the mid-range segment with advanced portrait photography, extended battery life, and the latest MagicOS 10 operating system.
The global AI device ecosystem company announced the launch on December 12, positioning the new series as a device lineup designed for young, always-connected content creators who demand premium features without flagship pricing. According to Fei Fang, President of Products at HONOR, the series redefines consumer expectations for mid-range smartphones by delivering complete, well-rounded user experiences.
Both models feature a 200MP AI Ultra-Clear Main Camera with a large 1/1.4-inch CMOS sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The HONOR 500 Pro includes an additional 50MP telephoto camera with HONOR’s proprietary SOIS stabilization system, providing CIPA5.0 image stabilization performance for sharper handheld shots. The series introduces industry-first front-and-rear Live portrait modes with background blur and beauty effects, six Film Live modes for cinematic color options, and a Live Passerby Removal feature that keeps subjects in focus by eliminating distractions.
Performance varies between models, with the HONOR 500 powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor and the HONOR 500 Pro equipped with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Both devices utilize HONOR’s Phantom Engine 3.0 for optimized gaming performance with stable frame rates in popular titles.
The standout feature is the 8,000mAh HONOR Silicon-carbon Battery, which HONOR claims provides two-day endurance while maintaining a slim 6.55-inch body profile. The HONOR 500 supports 80W wired charging, while the Pro model adds 50W wireless charging capability. Both devices offer 27W wired reverse charging for powering accessories.
Additional features include eye-protection display technology with AI Defocus Display and AI Motion Sickness Relief, while the Pro model includes HONOR’s C1+ RF Enhanced Chip for improved signal reception and network stability. The new MagicOS 10 operating system features a customizable AI Button for quick access to frequently used functions.
The series features an integrated cold-carved unibody design with the camera module and rear glass crafted as one seamless piece, achieving a 7.75mm profile and 1.05mm bezel. Both models carry IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance. The smartphone comes in four crystal-inspired color options: Blue, Pink, Silver and Black.
