It has now been a month since the release of the Luna III update, and now, HoYoverse is gearing up to launch the Genshin Impact Version Luna IV update.
This latest update is titled “A Traveler on a Winter’s Night,” and it will introduce two new playable characters: the Moon Maiden, Columbina, along with the Adeptus from Liyue, Zibai. The update will also feature the return of The Lantern Rite, along with lots of other content, including a new era north of Nod-Krai.
The update’s premise is described as:
“As tensions in Nod-Krai approach a critical threshold, the latest Archon Quest reaches its dramatic climax. After seizing the power of the Moon Marrows, Il Dottore presses forward with his research, setting the stage for an inevitable showdown against the Traveler and their allies. Empowered by this unprecedented force, he draws the battle into his twisted domain where the rules of reality are upended and chaos is meticulously orchestrated.”
As for the new characters, the first of the two is the Moon Maiden, Columbina Hyposelenia. She is a 5-star Hydro Catalyst wielder who promises to bring powerful support skills. For starters, Columbina can trigger coordinated Lunar Reaction DMG while off the field. Then, her special ability, Lunar Domain, enhances Lunar Reactions with a DMG Bonus along with other powerful effects.
Columbina can also convert Electro-Charged, Bloom, and Hydro Crystallize reactions into Lunar Reactions. Plus, in Nod-Krai, she can revive a fallen teammate.
The update also introduces the new elemental reaction, Lunar-Crystallize. This is triggered when Geo meets Hydro under specific conditions. When this happens, three Moondrifts appear near enemies, and when triggered thrice, this activates Moondrift Harmony, further dealing Geo DMG to enemies.

The other new character is Zibai, a 5-star Geo Sword wielder. Unlike Columbina who excels in supporting teammates, Zibai is a powerful damage-dealer, as he can enter a special state where he can unleash a powerful Elemental Skill that deals Lunar-Crystallize DMG after building up enough unique energy.
Version IV’s Event Wishes will begin with Columbine and a rerun of Ineffa in the first phase, followed by Zibai in the second phase, who will be joined by the new four-star Geo Lighkeeper, Illuga. As a bonus, Neuvillette’s new outfit will be available in the shop for a limited time at a discounted price.

Other additions in the update include Piramida, the new map expansion and headquarters of the Lightkeepers. In the update’s new World Quest, players will team up with the Lightkeepers and Iluga to continue the Wild Hunt fight.
The Lantern Rite is also returning, featuring even more events and rewards. Here, players can place Xiao Lanterns throughout Liyue Harbor, and by doing so, they can collect Fortune Coins that can be used to exchange various gifts.
Finally, Version Luna IV will have a bunch of free rewards, including 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates, a new outfit for Yaoyao, and more.
Genshin Impact Version Luna IV will launch on January 14, 2026, across all platforms.
