EastWest debit card holders can finally add their cards to Google Wallet, as it is now officially available on Google Pay.
In case you missed it, Google Wallet was launched in the Philippines back in November, but at the time, only a smaller selection of cards for various banks were available to put there. The advantage of Google Wallet is that the cards added to it can be used to pay for goods and services via Google Pay. As such, if you’re buying something from a store with Google Pay support (and if you have a phone with NFC), you can simply tap to pay with your phone. No need to bring your physical card with you; great for extra security.
Previously, EastWest credit cards were made available on Google Pay. Now, even Eastest Bank’s debit card is available, giving users even more convenient ways to pay. This is especially great news for EastWest bank account holders who have no credit cards yet.
“By enabling EastWest Debit Cards on Google Pay, we are giving our customers an easier way to pay — one that fits naturally into how they live, travel, and shop today. This is part of our broader commitment to deliver secure, globally competitive digital solutions for Filipinos,” said EastWest CEO Jerry Ngo.
