As history has shown us, the POCO X8 Pro is once again gunning for every smartphone within, and slightly above its weight class. Coming off strong from last year’s budget beast, the goal is to solidify its foothold in the sub-20,000 peso price bracket while delivering that sweet gaming goodness that everyone strictly expects of it. Of course, it came out swinging.
Locked and loaded with a Flagship Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip, a generous 6500mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge, a crisp 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP Sony IMX882 camera with OIS, and IP68 dust and water resistance–the loadout is all set.
At its price point, that’s a stacked spec sheet. The real question, as always, is just how versatile can it be in reclaiming flagship-killer territory? Let’s talk about it.
Geeksthetic

We got our hands on the Iron Man Edition, and entertainingly so, the packaging levels up the unboxing to become more movie accurate. The design leans fully into the MCU aesthetic, and for those who’ve grown up alongside Tony Stark, it’s a genuine treat. Ditching the bright red, we’re instead treated to some sweet black and gold.
It’s sleek, gaudy, and sports a very nice matte finish. Surprisingly, even the logo is resistant to smudges. If you’re a Tony Stark stan or simply a fan of The Avengers who enjoys collecting memorabilia, then you’ll definitely want to consider this one. It’s worth noting that the glossy hard case is equally hard to remove. But you can’t deny that it looks really cool, though.
That said, the physical experience of holding the X8 Pro is genuinely pleasant. At 157.53mm × 75.19mm × 8.38mm and 201.47 grams, it’s noticeably more compact and lighter than most mid-range devices in its category—handy enough for one-handed use without feeling like you’re sacrificing screen real estate. For those who’ve been quietly wishing phones would stop growing, the X8 Pro is a breath of fresh air. The compact meta is still alive and kicking, boys and girls. Ever so slightly.
If the Iron Man Edition isn’t your thing, White and Doctor Doom Mint Green round out the lineup for those who prefer something a little more understated. Yes, we all know RDJ has been recasted–we already reused this joke.
Binge-watching Factor

Pop on your Marvel-related media or K-pop video of choice because the X8 Pro’s 6.59″ 1.5K 120Hz ultra-bright AMOLED display is ready for the long haul.
The panel is vivid and bright, with a 3500 nit peak brightness and 2000 nits HBM ensuring the screen stays legible and lively even outdoors. The 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio makes shadow detail in darker scenes genuinely discernible, while the DCI-P3 wide color gamut and 68 billion colors ensure every frame looks richly rendered. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support rounds things out for premium streaming platforms.
The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and navigation, while the up to 2560Hz instant touch sampling rate guarantees that nothing feels sluggish or unresponsive. It’s the kind of display that makes you forget you’re not on a flagship—which, frankly, is pretty darn awesome.
Let’s talk eye care. TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution), Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications mean marathon viewing sessions are gentler on the eyes than you might expect. 3840Hz PWM dimming handles low brightness gracefully, and Wet Touch display 2.0 keeps your controls accurate even with less-than-dry fingers.
Pair all of that with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support, and your binge-watching setup is more than sorted.
Gaming Prowess

POCO’s gaming credentials are well-established at this point, and the X8 Pro continues that tradition.
We put the Dimensity 8500-Ultra through its paces with extended runs of Wuthering Waves and Arknights: Endfield, and at default settings, both titles ran admirably well—smooth frame rates, responsive controls, no stutters to speak of. The 4nm chip backed by LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage keeps things moving at a satisfying clip. If it hasn’t been said before, we’ll say it again: anything that isn’t remotely similar to Genshin Impact will run like a dream.
However, push it to higher settings or throw a particularly chaotic scene at it with lots of enemies, and you’ll notice the occasional hitch. Nothing catastrophic, nothing that derails a session, but enough to remind you that you’re not quite in flagship territory. This was the same situation with the previous generation–capable, but not mindblowing,
Our recommendation is to keep it at default to medium settings when running your gacha sessions. High can work, too. For as long as you set your expectations with more demanding titles. That’s where the X8 Pro finds its rhythm, and at that level, the experience is genuinely solid.

The patented Gameturbo earns its keep here too, delivering a healthy performance and visual boost that makes everything look a touch more polished without requiring you to dig through settings. It’s one of those additions that works best when you don’t notice it—and here, you largely don’t, unless you want it to.
Geek Photoshoot Capabilities

The X8 Pro’s camera system is capable at best and slightly decent at worst. Again, it’s important that expectations are set when snapping those shots.
The 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera with an f/1.5 aperture and OIS handles everyday shooting competently. Exposure is generally well-managed, low light is workable thanks to that wide aperture, and the image stabilization keeps things nice and steady during handheld shots. Color accuracy is fine–whether it be under normal or dimly lit circumstances, but there’s a noticeable reliance on AI enhancement, and the results can occasionally feel a touch artificial. This is all before the first firmware update drops, so we can definitely expect some improvement later on.

Just like the Pro Max, we’re limited to only a 50MP main shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide at f/2.2 to work with and no telephoto in sight. We’re limited even further with only two focal lengths for portrait shots (1X and 1.3X). The X8 Pro’s photographic versatility does have a ceiling.

For video, you’re limited to 4K at 60 fps on main, and 1080 at 60fps for vlogging. The AI photo tools are abundant, with expansion, reflection removal, and the usual suite of computational tricks are all on deck.

POCO has clearly been investing in their camera game up top with the F Series, as even the X8 Pro Max switched things up with its main sensor. So. it’s a tad disappointing that the X8 Pro basically gets left behind–essentially replicating the hardware of its predecessor. Image processing can only get you so far.
Everyday Reliability

Where the X8 Pro really finds its footing is in the day-to-day. This is a phone built to outlast everything and everyone.
The 6500mAh battery is an absolute workhorse–beating its predecessor the the punch and rivaling its more powerful F Series siblings. For moderate users, two-day battery life is well within reach. Even heavy users will find themselves crossing the finish line with enough left to spare. And when it’s finally time to charge, 100W HyperCharge gets you back to full in roughly half an hour. It’s the kind of convenience that quietly reshapes your daily routine. The 27W reverse charging essentially transforms that Stark tech into an Iron Power Bank–patent pending.

Just like it’s Max-level sibling, it comes with the new programmable RGB back light effects light up whenever you charge, listen to music, or receive notifications. As of now, you’re limited to PUBG and COD for gaming lights, but future updates might see a wider library of titles.
Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on Android 15 runs crisply alongside the Dimensity 8500-Ultra, with AI features that integrate smoothly without getting in the way. The in-screen fingerprint sensor, while not ultrasonic, is quick and reliable, face unlock handles the rest, and Wi-Fi 6 keeps connectivity stable. Dual nano SIM support is standard, but no eSIM here. The flexibility is appreciated, though.

And yes, IP68 dust and water resistance is on board. At this price tier, it’s the kind of feature that used to feel like a luxury. On the X8 Pro, it just feels expected. Good.
Geek Lifestyle Final Verdict

The POCO X8 Pro doesn’t try to be everything. It tries to be exactly what you need, with efficiency.
The POCO X8 Pro is a well-rounded mid-range contender that punches with genuine conviction. The Dimensity 8500-Ultra delivers reliable everyday and gaming performance. The 6500mAh battery with 100W HyperCharge is among the best in its class. The display is bright, smooth, and genuinely enjoyable. And the IP68 rating adds a layer of confidence that the mid-range space doesn’t always afford.
The camera system and the single focal length limitation are real considerations, especially for the photography-minded.. The gaming experience shines brightest at default settings rather than maxed out. But within the context of what this phone is and what it’s priced at, these are manageable trade-offs rather than dealbreakers.
For the tech-savvy everyday user who wants flagship-adjacent features without flagship-tier spending, the POCO X8 Pro makes a compelling case.
