The new HUAWEI Watch GT Runner 2 is now redefining how athletes train for the marathons of their choosing. Officially launched in Manila on April 24, 2026, the device is celebrated as the lightest and most accurate titanium smartwatch in its class. This milestone release marks a deep collaboration with the “King of Marathon,” Eliud Kipchoge, who co-developed the wearable to bring elite-level training intelligence to both recreational and competitive runners. By working with the DSM-Firmenich running team, the brand translated elite insights into a system that captures workout data at precise one-second intervals.
“What made me collaborate with HUAWEI is that we have the same values. I can believe in creating movement in this world. If you move, you become healthy, and that’s the real core. I want to make this world a running world through movement,” said the marathon legend. “Together—myself and HUAWEI—we are trying to package this movement for every citizen in the world.”
Technical precision remains at the heart of the experience, utilizing a 3D floating antenna system and dual-band satellite support to maintain signal stability in challenging urban environments. To address signal drops, the watch features an industry-first AI-assisted XDR positioning system that uses motion data to ensure uninterrupted records of pace and distance. This accuracy powers the Intelligent Marathon Mode, which provides runners with real-time pacing and environmental guidance. Beyond tracking, the watch functions as an on-wrist coach by measuring mechanical running power and analyzing heart rate variability, sleep, and training load to recommend optimal rest and intensity.
Kipchoge’s career has shown that progress is built on consistency and control. This collaboration attempts to bring that same discipline to the wrist, turning elite insight into something any runner can use, one stride at a time.
