How Infinix and Pininfarina go beyond the “Ultra” flagship stereotype

Infinix and Pininfarina really did a stellar job at decking out the Note 60 Series.

There’s quite a bit of hype going around as the Infinix Note 60 Series recently made its stylish debut in local retail shops. This launch marks a significant milestone as the tech provider collaborates with the legendary Italian design firm Pininfarina, marking the first time in the design house’s 95-year history that it has crossed over to shape a smartphone’s exterior.

The partnership aims to move the brand into the premium segment by redefining the relationship between form and function, moving away from bulky, conservative flagship stereotypes to embrace a more elegant “New Ultra” aesthetic specifically tailored for expressive young urban professionals.

Central to this transformation is the NOTE 60 Ultra, which introduces a breakthrough “Uni-Chassis” Camera Module. This integrated structural solution covers the entire camera matrix area with a single piece of high-strength glass that eliminates traditional physical dividing lines, giving the powerful imaging system a unique sense of floating.

Despite its sleek, minimalist appearance, the device ingeniously conceals a sophisticated array of seven core components, including a high-resolution 200MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto lens. Pininfarina’s automotive influence is visible in the continuous curved surfaces and the tripartite front-end segmentation resembling a luxury car’s rear wing, intended to build a genuine emotional connection with the user.

The device further brings technology to life with its interactive lighting system, featuring a “Floating Taillight” red strip that illuminates during power-on to simulate the ceremonial sense of a hypercar’s ignition. Users can also enjoy the “Active Matrix,” which transforms into a customizable Pixel Pet or digital canvas.

This matrix remains perfectly invisible across seven different color-matched panels when not in use, achieving a seamless visual effect through stringent craftsmanship. Already earning the 2026 iF Design Award, the series is praised by industry critics for justifying the “Ultra” name.
