HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 Impressions | Petite, Powerful

The HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 just might have that champion-level performance worthy of your attention.

We’ve had our fair share of premium wearable, health-centric devices, and the latest one to wrap around our wrists is the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5. Not to be confused with its rounder, heftier, and more expensive siblings in the WATCH and GT Series, this new ‘Fit’ installment takes a bulk of the health monitoring quirks you’ve come to know and love from the former, and stashes it all into a sleek, lightweight chassis.

While we wish to got all out in explaining how this wearable feels, it’s best to keep it brief. No fine details, just vibes–as the kids say. All things considered, it’s safe to say that our first week together has been quite eventful.

The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 sports an extremely light and slim aluminum chassis. You strap it onto your wrist, and you might just forget you’re wearing it after a few hours–once things get really busy. One could surmise that it’s arguably slimmer and lighter than other premium smartwatches that share its likeness. At least, that’s how we feel.

You get a slightly elastic nylon strap secured snugly by an adjustable velcro lock. From what we see, the strap is fastened tight–permanently. So, it’s best to make sure you’re decided on which colorway you really want, should you snag this. You can rest assured that it won’t be falling off once you start running, though.

Moving up front, the square display measures up to your typical 40mm dial across the edges. It shines with enough brightness to not blind you momentarily in the dark, and maintain a clear visual under the sun at high noon. Moving on to tactility, it’s a breeze to swipe and tap when navigating through the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5’s apps and features.

Speaking of features, the whole kit and caboodle is here–and it all syncs seamlessly with HUAWEI Health. From your go-to Health Clovers, to the ever vigilant Sleep Monitoring, to GCash compatibility–the full breadth of features are at your command. All you need to do is take a walk–which we have.

So far, we’ve had the watch up and running for about a full week, and we’ve yet to charge it. That’s some serious power that could likely rival the GT Pro Series’ two-week survival with daily use. In terms of compatibility, we’ve tried it on both HUAWEI and Android devices, and both didn’t elicit any issues. You’ll likely have no problems with iOS either.

We’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled, our heartrates low, and the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 strapped onto our wrists until the official launch–which is coming soon. Make sure to stay tuned to us, or drop by HUAWEI’s official website and Facebook page for any updates.
