Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches in 2027, and it promises to be even bigger than Rebirth

Part 3 will feature a new job system and an even bigger world.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation was finally revealed at Summer Game Fest 2026, and from the looks of it, this will be even bigger than the previous game.

It’s fair to say that FF7 Revelation was one of the biggest announcements at SGF 2026. After all, this game promises to be the epic finale to the FF7 Remake project. Fittingly, Part 3 will feature big additions to the Rebirth formula, both in terms of story and gameplay.

In case you missed it, you can check out the game’s reveal trailer here:

Aside from the look at some new enemies and locations, the SGF reveal also previewed the game’s FITS system. FITS stands for “Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear,” and it’s essentially a job system tied to special equipment. This should give players more flexibility when it comes to building their party.

The trailer also showed off Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine, who will finally be playable characters in Revelation. As we only saw some clips of them in action, we definitely can’t wait to see more.

Following the trailer’s release, we also got some interesting new details about the game. In an interview with Gamesradar+, director Naoki Hamaguchi said that Revelation will feature an even bigger world than Rebirth. What’s more, some of the locations in Rebirth will be featured in Part 3.

Rebirth had several large open levels instead of just one big open world. According to Hamaguchi, even if you combine all of the levels in Rebirth, Revelation will be much bigger, not to mention that they will be more interconnected compared to Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC in early 2027. Currently, there’s no word on a specific release date. Based on the release dates of Remake and Rebirth, we expect this game to be released in February or March at the earliest.
