Lenovo achieves 90% renewable energy in operations’ electricity, announces new aspirations

It won't be long before Lenovo can just about run completely on renewable sources!

Lenovo reaches a milestone in sustainability as 90% of the electricity in their global operations now comes from renewable sources. This achievement serves as the centerpiece of the company’s newly released FY2025-26 ESG Report, which outlines significant progress toward reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. As the firm nears the conclusion of its first generation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, leadership emphasizes that these metrics reflect a deeply embedded corporate strategy designed to foster resilience in a complex global landscape.

At its core, the R.E.A.L Framework, prioritizes repairability, reuse, and recycling across the product lifecycle. Notably, 100% of the company’s PC products now incorporate post-consumer recycled content. Since 2005, the tech giant has enabled the recovery of over 800 million pounds of end-of-life products, demonstrating a large-scale commitment to the circular economy. This environmental focus extends to mobile technology, where smartphone packaging now includes 60% recycled materials and has seen a 50% reduction in single-use plastics compared to the FY2020/21 baseline.

The company is also leveraging the AI era to drive social impact and environmental monitoring. Innovative solutions like the TRAdA platform for predicting heart arrhythmia and AI-powered sign language translation showcase how “Smarter Technology for All” can address critical human needs. Philanthropy programs have also reached a record scale, positively impacting more than 25 million people between 2021 and 2026 by expanding access to technology and education. With top-tier recognition from organizations like Gartner and EcoVadis, the group remains focused on integrating hybrid AI strategies to turn data into sustainable value while preparing for its next generation of long-term aspirations.
