HoYoverse recently announced that the Zenless Zone Zero 2nd anniversary update, Version 3.1, will be released on July 29.
This new version update is titled The Long Goodbye,” and it will add two new playable S-Rank characters, along with a new permanent game mode. Plus, to celebrate the game’s 2nd anniversary, HoYoverse will give players special gifts, including a free limited S-Rank Agent of their choice and more.
Version 3.1’s main story is described as:
As representatives of New Eridu’s major factions arrive on the island one after another, the Proxies unexpectedly reunite with an old close friend — Truvia, the heiress of High Ambitions Corp. It was a past incident that drove them apart, leaving a scar in Pyrois’s memory that never fully heals. Meanwhile, Lindverne Sunbringer, Administrative Director of the Airspace Patrol Department, and her Deputy Director Sigrid formally meet the Proxies for the first time. Lindverne’s carefree demeanor and the legends surrounding Sigrid will all come to light following this encounter. Elsewhere, Remielle Dan — hidden away in an En-Nah Gang hideout — returns to the spotlight, and the Enchainer she previously mentioned, an entity far more powerful than anyone could imagine, will gradually come into focus as the story unfolds.
Meanwhile, the first of the new playable characters is Remielle Dan, an S-Rank Lumiflux Attribute Anomaly Agent. She is the first Lumiflux attribute Agent in ZZZ, and her unique Attribute Flux mechanism synchronizes her damage output’s attribute with the attribute of the next Agent in the squad.
Remielle can also accumulate resources in combat, and this allows her to enter the Phase Flow state. While in this state, Remielle continuously provides buffs to the squad. When resources are fully charged, she can also trigger a powerful Assist Attack.
Next is the S-Rank Ice Attack Agent Sigrid, who will debut in the second half of Version 3.1. In combat, Sigrid enters the Aerial Patrol Spear Form whenever an Unbridled Spear skill hits an enemy. In this form, players can hold the Basic Attack to launch alternative attacks, all while increasing her CRIT Rate.
In the first half, players can expect a rerun of S-Rank Ether Anomaly Agent Aria. Then, the second half will feature the Exclusive Rescreening channel. Here, players can select from three S-Rank Agents: Dialyn, Ukinami Yuzuha, and Asaba Harumasa. Players can also select a rate-up W-Engine from their exclusive W-Engines in the W-Engine Reverberation channel.
Then, there’s the new game mode “Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel.” This mode tasks players with entering stages to grab supplies and enhance their strength. The challenge here is that the players must explore corrupted areas, meaning they have a time limit so they can evacuate safely. So, yes, this is essentially an extraction game mode.
Version 3.1 will also feature the Fantasy Resort summer event “Summer Waves Roll In.” With this event, players can obtain various summer outfits, with Remielle and Sigrid also getting their own. Players can also expect in-game system optimizations, including the new Beginner’s Guide that will replace the Proxy Trial, among others.
Finally, 2nd Anniversary rewards will be up for grabs, with players being able to select one of five limited S-Rank Agents — Jane, Soldier 0 – Anby, Hugo, Trigger, or Lucia. Plus, there will be login rewards with a total of 1,600 Polychromes, along with an additional 10 Encrypted Master Tapes during the second half’s check-in event.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1 “The Long Goodbye” will launch on July 29 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, Android, and PC.
