The oldest Department Store from Japan is coming to the Philippines

While there recent years saw many Japanese variety stores opening all over the Manila, this might just be the biggest. Pinoys will soon be able to get that Japanese shopping experience as the retail giant Mitsukoshi Mall will land in the Philippines! The first Philippine Mitsukoshi mall will open at Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

As the oldest surviving department store founded by Mitsui Takatoshi, the shopping center dates back to 1673 when it was still a kimono shop in Tokyo. Since then, Mitukoshi mall became big enough that spread throughout overseas to China, US, and Europe. The Philippine branch is expected to open this 2021 at Grand Central Park in BGC. It will be part of the development plan by Federal Land in partnership with Nomura Real Estate Development and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. as a Japanese-inspired three-storey structure.

Items that Pinoy shoppers can look forward is the Beauty section and it’s Supermarket as it will sell a huge assortment of Japanese cosmetics and skin care products along with a selection of Japanese wine, meat and confectioneries. Or if you really want to experience that authentic Japanese cuisine, customers can head to the food court where a professional chef will cook for them. Along with all these, the Mitsukoshi Mall will have staff and personnel that will be trained to the Japanese style customer service called “Omotenashi” — a term that translates to “service from the heart”. So expect a courteous and wonderful experience while shopping.
