The Last of Us Part 2 becomes fastest-selling PS4 game in the UK

It's also this year's fastest-selling game in the country.

Prior to its release, The Last of Us Part 2 received widespread critical acclaim, with the game having a 96 rating on Metacritic, making it the top-rated PS4 exclusive ever. Aside from being praised by critics, the game has also achieved record sales, at least in the UK.

According to a report by gamesindustry.biz, The Last of Us Part 2 is now the fastest-selling PS4 title in the UK, beating out Naughty Dog’s own Uncharted 4 (which was the previous record holder). What makes The Last of Us Part 2’s sales record even more impressive is that the UK charts only counts physical sales alone; this means The Last of Us Part 2’s combined phsyical + digital launch should be even higher.

With this record, The Last of Us Part 2 is also the biggest video game launch in the UK this year, beating out previous record holder Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

While Sony has yet to release any sales figures for other countries, we do know that the game is shaping up to be a big hit, especially considering that the game’s pre-order count was higher than Marvel’s Spider-Man in Europe.

While The Last of Us Part 2 is shaping up to be a sales success, the game drew a sizable negative response online, with the game even being review bombed on Metacritic. Currently, the game is sitting at a 3.9 user score on Metacritic.

In our review of The Last of Us Part 2 though, we praised the game as a strong follow-up to its beloved predecessor:
