If you’ve ever been to Tokyo, you may already be familiar with the life-size Gundam Unicorn statue that watches over Odaiba. Now, another Gundam statue has been completed in Japan, and it can be found in Yokohama.

The difference with this new life-size Gundam in Yokohama is that it actually moves! Here’s a clip of it in action:

This RX-78-2 Gundam statue in Yokohama was made as one of the main attractions of the Gundam Factory Yokohama. Gundam Factory Yokohama is an entertainment complex that will feature various Gundam-themed shops, exhibitions, and more. This makes the Gundam Factory a must-visit for avid Gundam and mecha fans. Currently though, the complex’s opening has been delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for the statue itself, the life-size RX-78-2 is a remote controlled attraction that stands at 18-meters tall. Best part is that fans are able to view the mecha up close as it has a multi-level viewing deck right next to it.

For comparison, here’s a look at the Gundam Unicorn statue in Odaiba:

While the Gundam Unicorn does have some moving parts, the RX-78-2 in Yokohama has it beat given its impressive range of movement. Still, both Gundam statues are must-sees if you ever go on a trip to Japan. Here’s hoping things go back to normal and international travel becomes safe again.

The life-size Gundam RX-78-2 is located at the Gundam Factory Yokohama in the Yamashita Pier in Yokohama (around 40 minutes away from central Tokyo by train).
