Slam Dunk movie poster reveals title and December 3 release date

Pure nostalgic goodness.

We are getting a new Slam Dunk movie this year!

The much-anticipated Slam Dunk anime movie has been revealed to be titled The First Slam Dunk. A December 3 Japan release date also looks to be set in stone, based on the movie posters that were recently revealed revealed.

Check out the image below featuring Shohoku’s point guard, Ryota Miyagi.

The new movie is helmed by it’s creator, Takehiko Inoue along with Yasuyuki Ebara (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) as character designer and animation director.

There’s currently no details on whether or not this movie will be an original story or part/continuation of the storyline in the manga. But the mystery might be over soon as the official Toei Animation YouTube channel will be streaming a special program on July 7 dedicated to the upcoming movie.

Here’s another image that is sure to hit the right feels.

The original series ended its run way back in 1996, so I’m sure a lot of fans coming in from the late 90’s and early 2000’s are eagerly anticipating for this movie.

I just hope that this is a continuation of the Inter-High Tournament! We’ve waited long enough, people!
